This Week's Discovery: Bluff City Light Pendant

I recently came across this brilliant light fixture designed by Jonah Takagi and manufactured by Roll & Hill. I love the fusion of color with this industrial-inspired design, a combo that you don't see often. Named for Memphis, TN, it's available in three dreamy combinations of mint/red (shown here), white/brass or cream/brown. Don't you think it would be a great conversation piece for any room?

(Available at switchmodern.com, $750.)

On Trend: Faux Fur

Posted by

From fashion spreads to home goods, one of the hottest trends this season is fur. However, in favor of our furry friends, I shop strictly for faux versions. You don’t have to sacrifice the decadent feel or look of the “real” thing in my picks below.

1. This blanket is snuggle worthy all winter long. Choose from Fox, Chinchilla, Lynx, Mink and Coyote. (Restoration Hardware, $249).

2. Work in a textured pillow like this to easily elevate a room.
(Nordstrom, $58).

3. I'm loving this winter coat from the buzzed-about line Carven. With a faux shearling collar and sleek double breasted front, this is sure to be a staple piece.
(Mr. Porter, 590).

4. I’ve rarely ever seen a fur bag that’s chic but leave it to Stella McCartney to nail it this season in her signature animal-friendly style. The beloved “Falabella” bag works as a tote and shoulder bag -- the perfect companion for the season. (Net-A-Porter, $1335).

5. You can never go wrong with a fur vest's traditional nature and versatility. This plush version is a great investment piece. (Bloomingdales, $295).

This Week's Discovery: Sol y Luna Coolers

Just in time for the bridge between picnicking and tailgating season, I spotted these beautiful leather-clad coolers, thermoses, and ice buckets at Sag Harbor's new home decor store, Monc XIII. I love the way that Spanish company Sol y Luna took an everyday, ugly object (the basic cooler) and elevated it into something truly special.

The company hand-stitches all of its products (there's even a leather-wrapped wheelbarrow!), and most come in two rich brown shades. Wouldn't they make perfect housewarming or newlywed gifts?
