I love the idea of easily changing up the decor in my apartment, and I've been looking for creative ways to do so without buying new art or dragging furniture around my living room. When searching for some inspiration, the possibility of customizable pieces came to mind, and I instantly thought of chalkboard paint and all the choice and change it offers. Martha has several great chalkboard options in her lines with Michael's and Staples, but I thought I'd pull together a few additional chalkboard pieces from around the web to feed my current obsession and, hopefully, inspire! Check out my picks below.

These beautiful and fun mats by SerpentSea recently appeared on my radar. Their nautical design and bright color combinations are great for summer, and would work perfectly indoors or outdoors -– I was instantly drawn to them. Each mat is made of recycled marine rope and is woven by hand into one of four unique knotted designs. The four different knots, named for four famously cruel 17th century pirates (Bonnie, Drake, Morgan, and Killigrew), are traditional, centuries-old sailors’ knots that have long been used to serve practical purposes.
Sophie Aschauer, an artist’s assistant and style inspiration here in New York, has transformed these utilitarian knots into stunning nautical décor with SerpentSea, which she started after a sailing trip to Nantucket. Each mat uses up to 150 feet of repurposed nautical rope, and takes about four hours to weave by hand. The eco-friendly incorporation of used rope lends a whimsical air to the mats and really connects them to the ocean, while bold colors and a unique design makes them feel fresh and modern.
I just have to tell you all about a new collaboration between interior designer (and personal friend of mine) Bunny Williams and New York custom picture framing institution J. Pocker. The two have joined forces to create a unique line of curated art collections available for purchase. They are currently featuring three vignettes which include several framed artworks that can either be purchased individually or as a group for use in a gallery-style display.
This is an amazing idea for a collaboration, especially since gallery-style displays are so difficult to master. With three ready-made mixes of curated artworks to choose from, home decorators can get a little expert advice from the three vignettes, all of which include measurements and layout tips for easy installment. In all three vignettes, the framing has clearly been chosen by experts, and only serves to enhance the beauty of the artworks.
Bunny has an incredible eye and timeless style and most of the works included in the three vignettes are reproductions of art she has purchased for herself over the years. It's an intimate snapshot into her personal collection. The curated sets are available for purchase by calling Bunny Williams Home at (212) 925-5930 or visiting J.Pocker's website.
