Howard Slatkin, interior designer and co-founder of the fragrance brand we all know and love, Slatkin & Co., has a beautiful apartment on Fifth Avenue in New York, overlooking Central Park. In the new book Fifth Avenue Style ($60, The Vendome Press), we get treated to a full tour of his home with gorgeous, full-bleed photographs of every detail. The key word here is detail - throughout every room there is so much of it and you can tell he really put thought into all of the intricacy and planning of the colors, textures, fabrics and accents. See the slideshow below for my favorite images.
The gallery is filled with interesting architectural details and overlooks Central Park.
This lavish setup is only one end of Slatkin's extensive living room.
Slatkin designed this sofa himself in cashmere and suede, with a back panel covered in sheared mink. The embroidered pillows feature designs inspired by patterns he saw on Japanese lacquer boxes.
According to Slatkin, "Every room should have a mirror, as they add life and mystery."
This small table in the dining room is perfect for having lunch for two overlooking the park, Slatkin's favorite use of the room.
I love these hexagonal panels that are veneered in old tortoiseshell that was found at a workroom in Paris.
