On My Bookshelf: Fifth Avenue Style

Posted by

Howard Slatkin, interior designer and co-founder of the fragrance brand we all know and love, Slatkin & Co., has a beautiful apartment on Fifth Avenue in New York, overlooking Central Park. In the new book Fifth Avenue Style ($60, The Vendome Press), we get treated to a full tour of his home with gorgeous, full-bleed photographs of every detail. The key word here is detail - throughout every room there is so much of it and you can tell he really put thought into all of the intricacy and planning of the colors, textures, fabrics and accents. See the slideshow below for my favorite images.

Halloween Grows Up

Posted by

I’m thrilled to share another successful collaboration with our digital team. This time, we tackled a more grown-up approach to Halloween décor (because who enjoys cotton cobwebs after the age of six?). We staged a faux fete in my apartment, but I’d do the same for the real thing -- in fact, I used many of these ideas at my own Halloween party last year!

Click through for a behind-the-scenes peek at the making of the shoot, and click here to see the final product. Then get inspired by my top ten favorite ideas from Halloweens past (the Shar-chives, if you will). Enjoy!

As is the case with many shoots, what looks like a pile of junk is about to become something beautiful.

Of course, beauty must sometimes be trimmed to fit.
