Who can resist a beautiful chateau set in the lush green countryside of Scotland? I, for one, cannot. In James Knox’s new book, released November 15, he focuses on ten standout examples of Scottish country living. With each house, he details the history of the establishment, and follows through to how it stands today. Almost all of the homes featured in “The Scottish Country House" (Vendome, $50) still shelter the descendants of families who built them hundreds and hundreds of years ago.

I love seeing how the current families have kept some of the traditional décor, but modernized the homes for today’s lifestyle. James Fennell’s photographs jump off the page as I leaf through each vibrant spread, inspiring me to hop on a plane to Scotland ASAP (or at least incorporate a few ideas into my own designs)!
