With the recent warm weather, blue skies, and lasting sunshine, it’s clear that spring is here to stay. Right now, a trip to the flower market is as good as it gets. I love bringing a little springtime inside with arrangements that make the most of what's in season. Primroses, lilies, muscari, pansies and tulips are everywhere. I created these spring inspired centerpieces for April issue of Martha Stewart Living.
1 I love the idea of using blue in a floral centerpiece, especially muscari for spring. It's unexpected and looks beautiful and modern. I used chic silver appetizer bowls as containers and grouped them in a tray. Naturally, I filled the tray with foil covered candy.
2 A small amount of pea gravel in the bottom of the vessel allows for drainage. Ribbon tied loosely around the stems keeps them together and upright.
3 I bought these wicker baskets from Jamali Floral & Garden Supplies (jamaligarden.com) and painted them green. I chose the baskets to play off the china pattern.
