Chintz: Indian Textiles for the West is a (V&A Publishing, 2008) is a lovely book by Rosemary Crill. It features photographs of beautiful early chintzes—cotton or linen floral printed furnishing fabric made in India for the western market. The pieces illustrated in this book are part of the Victoria and Albert Museum's world-class collection. All of chintzes featured were made in south-east India, in the area know as the Coromandel Coast, generally acknowledged to be the sources of the highest quality chintz textiles. Take a look at some of these magnificent fabrics.
