This is the one blog post that I sincerely hope my family and friends don’t check out, because below are the presents I’ll be stuffing in stockings and placing under trees. Maybe one is just right for someone on your list? Or, if you fall in love with one of the below, emailing this link can serve as a subtle hint to the Santa in your life...
Who doesn’t love a York Peppermint Pattie ($22/box of 36, hersheystore.com)? The chill of the dark chocolate-covered mint is so wintery, and finding one of these in a stocking would surely be a welcomed treat.
Everyone who works with me can attest to the fact that I am completely obsessed with Sharpies in every point size and color. This year, the hottest bundle to give (or get) is the Sharpie Limited Edition 80’s Glam collection ($7-$30, sharpie.com) with such era-appropriate color names, including Argyle Green, Banana Clip Yellow, Jellie Pink, Leg Warmer Orange and Valley Girl Violet.
For me, clear dinnerware has and continues to be me a table-top must. A set of Crate & Barrel Circle plates and bowls (dinner plate, $7, salad and appetizer plates and bowls, $4 each, crateandbarrel.com) is a great way to get the look at a fabulous price.
There’s something so satisfying about having a more thoughtfully design version of what is normally a mundane housekeeping staple. The Muji Lint Roller ($7.50, muji.us) is small enough for travel and features a stand-up protective case to keep sheets stickier, longer.
I’ll say it: I love the Kardashians, and I’m not afraid who knows it. The first book by the sister trifecta of Kim, Khloe and Kourney, Dollhouse ($14, bn.com) will thrill any kloset Kardashian fan.
The domestic god or goddess in your circle will appreciate this artisanal wood spiffer-upper: Christophe Pourny Furniture Tonic ($15/6.7 oz., christophepourny.com) contains, among other things, walnut oil and beeswax, and is hand-mixed in micro-batches in New York City.
You bought fantastic presents, then wrapped them all exquisitely, but which box is for whom?! Label your offerings with style using Mrs. John L. Strong gift tags ($25-$40/set of 5, mrsstrong.com). Choose from seven varieties, all hand stamped on the brand’s signature “Strong Vanilla” cotton paper stock using hand-engraved motifs.
Send them (or their noses, at least!) packing to Buenos Aires, Capri, Cote d’Azur, Istanbul, Maldives, Palm Beach, Sardinia, St. Barth’s, St. Moritz or Tuileries by gifting them with a Vie Luxe Voyage Collection candle ($42-$80, vieluxenyc.com).
Form (white polycarbonate speaker housing) and function (40mm full-range enhanced audio driver—in other words, killer sound) meet in these 2011 Roc Nation Aviator White headphones ($150, skullcandy.com). Your nearest and dearest audiophile will approve.
The Grand Bazaar with photos by Laziz Lamani and text by Serdar Gulgun ($250, assouline.com) is a glorious, nearly 300-page look at Istanbul’s legendary half-a-millenium-old marketplace. It’s a great find for the hard-to-buy-for person on your list; so long as they like either furniture, jewelry, textiles, spices or antiques, they’ll be grateful.
