Book Friday: Dealer's Choice

Posted by

Ever wonder what a discriminating antique dealer chooses to put in his or her own home?

Luckily, the answer can be found in a fabulous new title from Architecture/Interiors Press.

Dealer's Choice invites you into the homes of some of the world's top dealers to showcase the vintage furniture, eclectic antiques, and innovative artwork that grace their personal spaces.

Homes in L.A., New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Berlin, Istanbul, the Belgian countryside, and elsewhere are featured in this beautifully photographed book.

I was struck by the disciplined editing each homeowner possessed. After all, these collectors have access to some of the finest furniture, accessories. and artwork in the world.

Time and time again, they prove it is not what you put in a room but what you leave out.

Their tastes -- while varying -- all share one common trait: An amazing knowledge of the history of design that enables them to create a unique and completely original space.

Come peek inside just some of these singular environments...

  • Kevin,

Greetings from HK! My wife and I noticed a picture you posted from Yung Po Hin Antique store during your trip to HK back in July '09. We are seriously considering buying the two "red kneeling court ladies" behind you in your photo, but with little expertise in asian antiques we are a little apprehensive. Are you happy with your purchase from the dealer? We appreciate your thoughts.

    Sincerely,

    Jonathan and Erica Hayes
