We are visiting another desktop here at our Martha Stewart Living offices.

This time, it's Assistant Editor for Decorating and Home, Yvette.

Yvette not only helps the entire decorating office run smoothly, but contributes her incredible talents to the decorating and home stories that grace the pages of Martha Stewart Living.

Yvette has an affinity for antiques and vintage textiles. She is also mad for color and pattern. Her work space is no exception.

I love to surround myself with things that are whimsical and colorful. When I have an immediate reaction to an item, I know its something that I would like to have around me for inspiration.

I am a very organized person by nature. These fantastic boxes meet two requirements: they provide essential storage and provide a neutral background.

As you can see I love color. Even my desktop image conveys a kaleidoscope of hues.

Though I seem to have a lot on my desk, everything serves an aesthetic or functional purpose.

Through my travels to flea markets with Collecting Editor Fritz Karch, I find props for future shoots or inspiration for an upcoming story idea.

I love these vintage mounted butterflies. You can find similar versions by Christopher Marley at formandpheromone.com. Below them are various spools of thread that I use for sewing and for color influence.

I am kind of obsessed with new and vintage scarves. They immediately give fantastic color inspiration. And if I need one to accessorize an outfit, they are right at my fingertips.

This vignette is one of my favorites at my desk. It makes me smile each time I see the bird on top of George Washington's head.

Fritz gave me this flour jar when he was cleaning out his office. The font on the jar is so charming. I keep all kinds of rickrack and ribbon inside.

This great fly paperweight was rusted when I found it. So, I coated it with a gold, metallic spray paint.

The stack of books is a series of travel guides put out by Phaidon in collaboration with Wallpaper* Magazine. They come in handy for propping.

I cut a piece of leather to make a small blotter that acts as a chic mouse pad. The marbleized, metallic bowl was found at a flea market in Pennsylvania.
