My Very Messy Office
Posted by Kevin Sharkey
I have always prided myself on keeping a tidy office; in fact, I am unable to concentrate if my surroundings are in disarray. Last week I caught the flu and found myself in bed for 3 days. I thought that you might be interested to see what happened to my work world as a result. I couldn't believe my eyes when I returned, I think that the chaos that has taken over my office is more difficult to recover from than the flu. I look forward to showing you pictures of what I soon hope to be the office that I call my own.
1 The view of my office from behind my desk.
2 My desk has been covered in papers and magazines since I caught the flu.
3 So many books need to be put back on my shelves, until they are organized they are stacked on the floor of my office.
4 A project that I am working on is hung on the bulletin board on a wall in my office.
5 Even the floor in my office is covered in folders and papers.
6 A picture of my desk (it got worse today).
7 The chairs in front of my desk are usually at the table in the center of the room.
8 When you enter my office you can immediately see the projects I am working on.
9 My office table that is supposed to be cleared off so I can have meetings at it with other editors. Even the floor below the table is a mess.
10 The books that need to make their way back to their proper shelf.
11 Part of the floor in my office.
12 A corner of my office has a pile of books and folders for various projects I am working on.
13 A closer look at the table in my office.
14 So many inspirational images from various magazines -- I am trying to organize them into different piles.
15 I look forward to the day when I won't worry about stepping on anything in my office.

Imagine if you had stayed in bed longer! Your poor office Kevin. I am sure that once you are feeling better the office will return to normal. I too like my office to be nice and tidy. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Kevin,
I'm glad you survived the flu - I have never had it but I hear it's no picnic. I like order in my office too but it is also my sewing and computer room so when I'm working on more than one project, empty spaces start to fill up fast. Often when my son comes over looking for something, he'll check for it in piles on the floor first. lol Oh well, there's only so much room for things and I can never find anything if I put it in storage boxes so I guess I'm stuck with messiness. I look forward to seeing your 'after' pictures.

Hello, Kevin. Brand new reader here, just subscribed last night. Oh.my.goodness! I'd die! I'm the same way about my workspace and no work could begin for me until I'd dealt with that. I feel for you! Best wishes getting your life back in order.

Hi Kevin,
Love your large project board! Would love to put one in my soon to be craft room.
As much as I try to have a tidy office, it always seems to eventually end up a mess again. I tidy...then it gets messy and the vicious cycle never ends
