Everything has its place, from skin care product to grooming. Each shelf was measured to fit my needs and that maximized space.

In my guest bathroom, same ideas, but I also added products that I think any guest would need. It's all right within reach.

I love the openness of the shelves and have no problem seeing useful items. I do, however, coral them in clear jars.

Clear jars are a great way to store items and see what you have (and need).

Organizing everyday items in silver cups is also a most elegant option. I adore my monogrammed ones.

Have you seen the July 2010 issue of Martha Stewart Living? If not, run out and buy one. It's a great start to the summer, with the headline Amazing America: Local Inspiration, Regional Specialities, and National Treasures.

This month, my column is all about how I transformed my bathroom from a standard white box into an inviting oasis without sacrificing space and style. I also applied some of these tricks to my guest bathrooms (friends should have an inviting oasis to see, too).

Today's post starts a series of behind the scenes bathroom shots and I begin with storage and organization; two things near and dear to me. While the ideas were small, they were big-impact adjustments that made a huge difference.

Adding an under-sink shelf added storage and created a practical solution (I had no built-in storage). And, I streamlined the look by removing all towel bars, replacing them with hooks, and organized everyday items in clear jars (better to see what I have and need) or silver cups. I was able to maximize my space and create a more personalized experience.

Now, everything has its place in my master bathroom and guests feel at home (and want for nothing). Perfect!
