2 I felt transported back to the days of Studio 54. The graphic quality of the pair of lamps and the drum shades look great against the dark wall and the art hanging on it.
4 Although I don't smoke I really am attracted to all the accoutrements. I am mad for giant glass ashtrays.
7 The dark wall with the white trim is a great backdrop for this mirror. I was considering sconces of a similar style for my bedroom.
New York City is one of the most fabulous shopping cities, no doubt. However, I am also a sucker for Italy, so it is no wonder that Flair (www.flairhomecollection.com) is a favorite destination. With outposts in Florence, Milan, Rome and now New York, Flair Soho has design origins in Italy with a distinct American feel. The combination is pure glamour.
I was visiting the shop with Martha Stewart Living’s deputy decorating editor, Rebecca Robertson last week, and was lucky enough to catch up with owners George Nunno and Jon Maroto as well as their publicist Elizabeth Blitzer. The current selection includes vintage modern pieces from Italy as well as an exclusive organic scent collection from a husband and wife team in Grasse. What also caught my eye is a grand collection of contemporary black and white photographs from Matt Albiani (www.mattalbiani.com).
I think that what I love most about this shop is that I can find a refurbished Italian sofa from the 1960s or the perfect gift for a friend; guaranteed with style.
