Dear readers, I need your opinion. Should I? Shouldn't I?
My apartment floor configuration is unusually large and not an exact rectangle so rugs require custom cuttings, which is difficult and expensive. I have been looking at traditional flat and wool weaves but still can't decide. Recently, while looking around Safavieh in their Manhattan showroom (the company has been importing and manufacturing fine rugs since 1914 and makes Martha's rugs), I happened upon these two shags and fell in love. One is a more traditional, neutral-colored shag, while the other is a bit more unusual and modern, using three colors combined.
I have heard that shag rugs can be a bit more challenging to clean. You have to use a wire brush and keep up with every spill. But, I have also heard that if a stain is too much to bear, you can simply cut the piece and replace it with another as there are no seams. Brilliant.
What's your vote? Should I? Shouldn't I? And if I do, which one?
