Ah! Perfect. With all of the muted grays in my apartment, I've created a calm vibe - but I'd love to consider a splash of color for accessories such as pillows!

Just as I thought it was safe to leave, and I had seen everything there was to be seen at ABC Home, a thought crossed my mind: Silk Trading Company. Located on the lower/basement level of ABC, the Silk Trading Company is known for its luxury textiles, drapery, paint and home furnishings. They literally have hundreds of rolls of silk and luxury fabrics - all waiting to be turned into beautiful drapes, wall upholstery, bedskirts, or whatever custom project their clients have in mind! They facilitate the process of getting samples to their customers by supplying clipboards, forms, and pens for writing down item numbers of desired fabric samples. Naturally, I immediately got to work rustling through the fabric rolls and noting which ones I wanted to use for upcoming projects at home and work!

If there's any trend worth tuning into right now, it's readily-accessible luxury. The Silk Trading Company has tuned in, all right. While browsing their store, I discovered 'Drapery Out-of-a-Box,' their line of ready made drapes. In their own words, the line "is comprised of [our] best selling custom drapery. The launch of this line addressed our clients’ overwhelming desire for immediate decorating gratification. This ready-made drape accommodates most windows and comes in several sizes."

Brilliant! In my experience with interior design, I've found that while many people love the quality that results from one-of-a-kind work (such as custom drapes, pillows, bedding, etc.), they don't always love to wait. Try telling a client that's been waiting months for custom upholstery that "patience is a virtue" - not happening! I must say that recognizing the designer's plight and creating a line of ready-to-buy luxury drapes is genius on Silk Trading's end. Bravo!

I wouldn't be doing the Silk Trading Co. justice if I didn't mention their other areas of custom services in bedding, furniture, pillow and, of course, drapery design. With an overwhelming choice of textiles, they make it incredibly easy to customize your home. What's not to love about that?
